Mini Bedroom Makeover!

For the longest time, I have been obsessed with interior design and the way that my bedroom looked. I constantly watched room tour videos on YouTube and was super inspired by everyone's big and beautiful all-white and aesthetically pleasing bedrooms.

I had white walls and all white furniture, but my room never had much of a cohesive and planned look. This drove me absolutely crazy. I seriously could not figure out how I could make my own room look like the beautiful rooms on Pinterest and Tumblr.  Last week, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and turn my room into the room I've always wanted. After the end product was complete, I figured it would be a great thing to share because it was super easy and really inexpensive! Here is how I took my room from a cluttered, stressful space to a calming place that I am in love with...

First thing I did was a pretty thorough cleaning and organizing of my entire room. I found that I just had a lot of clutter on my desk and shelves and on spaces that should look nice and clean. What I did was cleared off the entire space, and then just put back the things that I really loved and wanted to stay there (so picture frames, candles, gifts from family, etc). This made it a lot easier to decide what color scheme I wanted and other things that I could buy to fill the space.

It actually took quite a bit of internal debates about what color scheme I wanted to go for. Since my room already had white walls and white furniture, I had a world of possibilities. However, I knew that not having a set color scheme in the past is what led my room to looking like I put no effort into it. I took into consideration what I already had (pink frames, pink and green hanging photos, and a grey throw blanket) and decided on a green, pink and grey theme. Having a set color scheme really helped when I bought all my additional decor.

The main things that I had on my list when taking on stores were a desk lamp, throw pillows, storage bins, a new desk chair, and an additional chair for lounging or for friends to sit on. I think having a specific list of things that I absolutely needed helped me in not getting distracted by other furniture and decor in the stores I went into.

In looking for both decor and furniture, I went to Target, Home Goods, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Pier 1 Imports.  It actually took me forever to go through the shopping process because I wanted to look through everything that I possibly could, and it was when digging through things that I ended up finding pieces that I loved.

Clear Desk Chair : TJ Maxx

I am so incredibly happy with the way the finish product came out. I can't believe how much of a difference this has made in my life and my mood (I think I sleep a lot better and am happier overall... Isn't that crazy?). From this, here are my final tips on recreating your room into your own sanctuary:

1. Set a color scheme and keep everything cohesive.
2. Keep in mind the things that you already have and use them!
3. You do not have to spend a lot, keep your eyes peeled for hidden treasures!

Thanks so much for reading, if you have any questions about where anything is from or suggestions for future posts, leave a comment!
